Next Meeting Oct 23, 2009, Duke SMAT Training Center, 400 Stadium Dr., Durham

Welcome to the Duke Regional Advisory Committee or Duke RAC web page. The Duke RAC is part of the North Carolina Regional Trauma System. There are seven other RACs in the state. Each RAC is lead by a Level I or II trauma center and is comprised of the following componants: A trauma medical director, a trauma program coordinator, an emergency physician, an emergency medical service provider, an advanced life support director a representative from each hospital in the RAC as well as community representatives. It is the hope that an emergency physician, a nurse, and an EMS representative from each hospital can attend the meetings however that is not any easy commitment in these busy times.

The purpose of the RAC is to bring hospitals that provide trauma care together to work at standardizing the care of the trauma patient. Guidelines for patient care, injury prevention, performance improvement, and legislative issues are a few of the areas we address. As you can see on the map of our RAC the Duke RAC members come from one end of the state to the other. This makes our quarterly meetings a bit of a challenge but we continue to try new ways to make the system work. Despite the challenges the group has been successful in producing some guidelines for all to use (see Guidelines section).

We hope this page is helpful to you. As always feedback is more than welcome. If there is something you would like us to add, change, or delete please let us know.
